5. Annual Report

The Chairman went through the Annual Report giving a general overview of the contents.

Electoral Roll

Hilary Roberts, the Electoral Roll Officer, reported that 309 people were enrolled on The Parish Register, a decrease of 106 on last year's figures. The figure included 162 inside the Parish and 147 outside the Parish. This represents 106 deletions since 2001.

Financial Report

The Treasurer, Jonathan Rawlinson, introduced the Financial Report for the year ending December 2001.

Total Income 2001 £161,031 : Total Expenditure 2001 £155,634

32% of our Income is from tax efficient planned giving. 11% from Freewill Offerings, 5% from the Collection Plate, 12% from Tax recovered, 14% from Donations/appeals for charity, 6% rent, 13% fees.

Charitable giving amounted to £23077.11 which is a similar figure to last year when we had the Millennium Project, which shows an increase in our giving. Donations from PCC subgroups have increased from £1814 to £5483.

Questions

A question was asked regarding our cash flow problems. Cash flow is tight in September every Year. In August we have our lowest income for the year. If people who pay quarterly could make one of their payments in August every year it would greatly help the cash flow. Rev Trollope expressed thanks to Derek McCririe for his work on the Fees Account, to Eric Linford for all his work looking after the PCC monies and Jonathan Rawlinson for producing the Final Accounts. Jonathan will be stepping down as Treasurer and we will be looking for a new Treasurer. We are very grateful to Jonathan for all the hard work he has done over the years as Treasurer.

Appointment of Independent Examiner

Eric Linford reported that the Accounts had not yet been examined by the Independent Examiner as we do not yet have one. However Eric is endeavouring to find someone qualified to carry out this task for us.

Acceptance, of the Financial Report was proposed by Linda Moore, seconded by Sandra Tickle and unanimously agreed.

Questions

There were no questions.

8. Vicar's Report

Rev Trollope began is report with a big thank you to the Tuesday Group, namely Joyce Wade, Barbara Chambers, Margaret Quayle, and Alan Lewney. Paul Heritage, who was our Church Family Worker, is now employed as a Teacher at Halsall School.

David expressed his thanks to Paul for all the hard work he had done during the ten years he had worked with the Church as the Family Worker and for the support that Paul had given to him personally.

Thanks were expressed to all Readers, the Office team, Paul Roocroft, and all those who work in the many activity groups. John Morris has also done a tremendous amount of work with the Maintenance Team and deserves a special thank you.

A parish weekend had been held in September at Bassenfell Manor which had been extremely enjoyable. A speaker from Scripture Union had been invited.

We were very pleased to have Joram with us for two months. The feedback from his Diocese is that the visit was much appreciated. Nathan is now Bishop Elect and will be taking over from Bishop Wilson. He will be preaching in Church on 19 May 2002. Revs Trollope and Patterson and John Morris will be attending his Consecration. Five young people from the Parish, along with two adults, will be going to work in the Diocese in the summer.

Twenty five percent of our congregation are now in Home Groups and we hope to increase this to fifty to seventy five percent.

With regard to Youth Work, we are hoping to employ a part-time Youth Worker. An open evening for older teenagers has been arranged to ascertain their views.

Premises refurbishment continues. We need a total of £40/50,000 to spend on the Church, other buildings and the grounds.

A new Crossroads Building will be erected at the back of the Church Hall. Hoima are also building a Community Centre on the same lines as Crossroads and we are seeking to support this as well.

Are we seeking to follow Christ, to be obedient and to work together for the good of all? These goals, arid many others, will be brought to us as we seek to make our church fit and healthy for the 150th Anniversary

9. Vote of Thanks

A Vote of Thanks was given by John Morris. He mentioned that David has been our Vicar and Mentor for a long time now. He had come from the South and developed a Liverpool sense of humour and wit, just about ready to become an Honorary Scouser and Crosbian. We have found David to be a man of honour and one of our greatest assets. He works tirelessly and gives freely of his time and talents without personal consideration in service to the Lord and in the interests of all the people of St Luke's and Great Crosby.

He works so hard in so many fields, attends numerous Church services. Chairs meetings and other special events. His involvement with the Great Crosby Group of Churches and all the work

required there, encourages us to become ecumenical and work together with our Christian brothers and sisters.

David has been constantly involved with the present Crossroads Centre during his time with us and now the new Crossroads is here in our grounds and David is fully involved with all the work concerned with that. He also has his responsibilities in the Diocese, and so much more. His patience arid quiet manner always seem to win the day. He is prepared to listen, advise and help and is always there when we need him.

Thanks were expressed to Christa for her support to David and us over the years.

We thank God for them and wish His Blessing upon them and all they do in the future.

10. Date of Next Meeting
