THE PARISH OF ST LUKE GREAT CROSBY

Minutes of a Meeting of Parishioners
held in St Luke's Church Hall, on 28 April 2004
for the purpose of electing Churchwardens

1. Prayer

Rev Barbara Chambers opened the meeting in prayer.

2. Notice Convening Meeting

After opening the meeting the Chairman, Peter Owen, informed those present that the notice convening the meeting had been on view in Church and was available for inspection.

3. Minutes

The Minutes of the 2003 meeting previously circulated to all those on the Electoral Roll were taken as read. It was proposed by Ray Terry, seconded by Peter Firth, and unanimously agreed that the Minutes be accepted and signed.

4. Election of Churchwardens

The Chairman announced that both Peter Owen and Sandra Tickle were eligible and willing to stand for re-election as Church Wardens. It was therefore proposed by Linda McDowell, seconded by Shirley Wallin and unanimously agreed that both Peter and Sandra be re-appointed as Churchwardens.

The Chairman expressed thanks to Peter and Sandra for all their hard work over the last year.

5. Vote of Thanks

Sandra Tickle opened by thanking the many dedicated volunteers who help at St Luke's in whatever way. There are so many people who give of their time to help in the office, maintain the church buildings and grounds, lead children's groups etc and their commitment would be needed more than ever as the Church entered a period of Interregnum. It would be impossible to name everyone individually, but on behalf of both Wardens, Sandra expressed appreciation for all the work that goes on quietly behind the scenes at St Luke's. She also thanked all those who had helped to make the 150th Anniversary celebrations such a success, in particular Eric Linford and Bill Pierce for their organisation, and Hugh Hollinghurst and his team for production of the history book.

Sandra thanked David and Christa Trollope for all they had achieved in their time at St Luke's, and said that during the Interregnum the Shared Ministry Team (SMT) would be responsible for holding the vision of the church and for keeping things going on a day-to-day basis. This would be a daunting task for the Team and for its individual members: Barbara Chambers, Alan Lewney, Eric Linford, Peter Owen, Margaret Quayle, Shirley Wallin and herself. Each individual brought their own unique gifts to the SMT, and Sandra and Peter, as Wardens, were particularly grateful to be able to share the responsibility in this way. Sandra asked for continued prayer and support for the SMT, for wisdom and unity during the Interregnum, which would inevitably be a time of uncertainty. However, she felt that St Luke's need not be fearful of what the future would bring. Just as Shirley Wallin and Mike Stammers had proved to be worthy replacements for their predecessors as Parish Administrator and Groundsman, Sandra was confident that when it came to finding a new vicar for St Luke's, the Lord would indeed provide.
