THE PARISH OF ST LUKE GREAT CROSBY

Minutes of a Meeting of Parishioners
held in St Luke's Church Hall, on 20 April 2005
for the purpose of electing Churchwardens

1. Rev Barbara Chambers opened the meeting in prayer.

2. Notice Convening the Meeting

After opening the meeting the Chairman, Peter Owen, informed those present that the notice convening the meeting had been on view in Church and was available for inspection.

3. Minutes

The Minutes of the 2004 meeting previously circulated to all those on the Electoral Roll were taken as read. It was proposed by Joyce Wade, seconded by Paul Roocroft, and unanimously agreed that the Minutes be accepted and signed.

4. Election of Churchwardens

The Chairman announced that Sandra Tickle was eligible and willing to stand for re-election as Church Warden. Peter Owen would be standing down. Gordon Lawrence had been acting as Deputy Churchwarden and would be willing to serve if elected. The Chairman said that he had received two valid nominations for Sandra Tickle and Gordon Lawrence. It was therefore proposed by Linda McDowell, seconded by Shirley Wallin and unanimously agreed that both Sandra and Gordon be appointed as Churchwardens.

Thanks were expressed to Peter and Sandra for all their hard work over the last year.

5. Vote of Thanks

Sandra Tickle opened by thanking the many dedicated volunteers who help at St Luke's in whatever way and particularly during the Interregnum. She particularly thanked the Clergy and Lay Readers who have led services not only at St Luke's but All Saints Church; John Morris and the Maintenance Team; Peter Firth and John Morris for their fundraising to pay for the new Shed; Mike Stammers, who has now left, and Paul Roocroft for stepping into the breach until Keith Sagar had been appointed as Site Supervisor; Eric Linford for his work with the finances of the Church and Linda McDowell for her work as PCC Secretary over a long number of years.

Sandra went on to thank Shirley Wallin and Adrian D'Auvin who have spent a lot of time putting the 11 am service on to Power Point.

Sandra finished by thanking everyone for all their prayers for herself and Peter, as Churchwardens during the Interregnum. We look forward to a new era at St Luke's with Rev Pete Spiers as the new Priest in Charge and the prospect of a Team Ministry with All Saints and St Michaels. Our prayers were requested for Pete and his family as they become part of the family of St Luke's.
