Supporting St Luke's Church St Luke's church is our church. We recognize Jesus as the head, and as his followers we seek to work together to see his kingdom come. Your hard work and generous giving enables St Luke's to offer so much to so many people. During March 2003 in our Sunday morning services we will highlight different aspects of our work that needs your support and prayers. Each presentation focuses on one of the five core values that lie at the heart of our church. All Involved Every member has much to share through worship, serving and giving. The task of the church leadership is to enable each person to be involved. We pay £2000 each month in salaries to support our administrator in the office, our groundsman and church caretaker, and our hall cleaner. They and their team of volunteers enable all of us to share in the life of St Luke's. Becoming Disciples The Christian life is a journey. As members of St Luke's, the Sunday services, home groups, and courses like Alpha give us many opportunities to learn more and grow in faith. We offer similar opportunities to children and young people. We also offer training to leaders and helpers. This is only possible with your support. Creating Community As Christians we are members of a family that extends to every corner of the earth. We work out his reality as we share in the work of Liverpool Diocese. The diocese has 235 churches; many are small congregations serving deprived communities. Our share of supporting this work is almost £5000 per month. We also share in the work of Churches Together in Great Crosby and your giving has helped build the new Crossroads Centre. Doing Evangelism Jesus challenged his followers to be light to the world, and look beyond their own needs to the needs of others. We do this through our daily work, the care of those around us, and the witness of our lives. Last year we gave over £30,000 to bring joy, hope and encouragement to desperately needy people throughout the world. Each month St Luke's highlights one of our six main mission charities - have a look here and at the notice board in church. Encountering God God is the source of all life, light and love. We encounter him in worship and seek to follow where he leads. Over the last 150 years many thousands of people have come to St Luke's Church to worship. As we come to our 150th anniversary we plan to carry out important repairs, redecorate the church, and make it more accessible to disabled people - a legal requirement for 2004. We also plan to resurface the drive. We expect to spend about £20,000 this year, with more work to do in future years. If we are going to pass on an attractive and well-maintained church for future generations, we need your generous giving. this page was last modified on 2 March 2003 |
