Working together...

adultsSt Luke's Church is no one man or woman - it's a whole collection of folk who are committed to working together to worship God, each valued as individuals.

The congregation is as diverse as any community and St Luke's wouldn't have it any other way.

In bringing people together under one roof, St Luke's enables people to get to know one another, provides support and friendship, and values people for who they are and not what they do.

By working together to build relationships and understand God's Love, it also offers a place to belong.

What St Luke's means to...

DebbieDebbie: "As a wife and mum in today's busy world, life can sometimes be testing. I remember at first being shy and hesitant about volunteering anything of myself. However at St Luke's I saw such unity and a caring for the welfare of others, a real and meaningful way of sharing what Jesus gives. It opened my life in an ongoing discovery of trusting friendships, love and guidance"

LesterLester: "St Luke's has been like a beacon guiding me through the different stages of my life. Initially at St Luke's Junior School, and then learning life skills at Cubs, Scouts, and Youth Club. As an active member of St Luke's my Christian faith has grown deeper and stronger, through attendance at Sunday Services, involvement with Home Groups, Alpha Courses and as a Churchwarden. Over the years there has been a number of family marriages and baptisms too. Being a member of St Luke's, with friends old and new, is being part of God's family...enjoying the present, and looking forward to the future."

RachelleRachelle: "Having been brought up a Christian at home and at school, I know it's important to ask Jesus into my heart and life. St Luke's is important to me because I want to learn more about God, each time I go to church, and in every aspect of my life. At church I can learn more about Him and meet new friends who encourage

SteveSteve: "St Luke's is a community where people are at different stages in their journey of faith. It's great to be part of this and see God changing our lives There is a strong sense of family at St Luke's - not only does everyone seem to be related, but people of varying backgrounds and personalities develop a real bond through their faith. At St Luke's I am invited to be still and listen to God and inspired to worship him. I am also challenged that my faith is not only for Sundays, but must be worked out in at my office and with my neighbours."

JimmyJimmy: "I was christened at St Luke's and have been involved in all sorts of things here ever since. I was in Pathfinders as a teenager, went to the Youth Club and played my guitar there. I've made lots of friends at St Luke's and grown up with them through the church. Even those who've gone to university or moved away still keep in touch. I now go to a Youth Cell Group, where a bunch of us meet for a get-together once a week. It's great - we have a way of breaking the ice and getting everyone chatting and it's really friendly."

IreneIrene: "I was drawn to St Luke's having attended a school service 35 years ago. I was a complete stranger to St Luke's, having attended another church since my childhood, but the people and clergy here were so friendly, and the involvement of the school drew me closer to the church and God. There was a wonderful family atmosphere, and there still is. The friendships I have made in the church have supported me through my life and are still doing so:"

Those are the views of some of the many people who attend St Luke's. So whether you are visiting the church for a formal occasion such as baptism, wedding, or funeral, or are new to the area, we hope you will return to discover more about St Luke's Church for yourself.
