To discover the freedom Christ won for us on the Cross and what
it means for us in our lives. |

Have you ever experienced freedom? eg escape from a leg in plaster,
a repressive job, a destructive relationship, being lost in crowd.
What did it feel like?

on the emotions expressed in the song.

What is Freedom?
- Jesus came to set up free - Luke 4:19,21; Romans 8:2; 2 Corinthians 3:12;
Galatians 5:1
- Freedom is found - in belonging to God
- in flow of Holy Spirit
- in becoming who we really are
How Jesus won our freedom
By his life, death, resurrection and ascension he gives us
- forgiveness - 1 Peter 2:24
- victory over death & evil - 1 Corinthians 15:56
- the Holy Spirit - Acts 1:8
- a place with him in heaven - Ephesians 2:6
What it means for us
- We are accepted :
- adopted as children - Ephesians 1:5
- bought with a price - 1 Corinthians 6:20
- belong to the body of Christ - 1 Corinthians 12:27
- power to become children of God - John 1:12
- We are secure
- free from condemnation - Romans 8:1,2
- free from rejection - Romans 8:35-39
- what God begins he completes - Philippians 1:6
- Citizens of heaven - Philippians 3:20
- We are significant
- chosen to bear fruit - John 15:16
- called to be light/salt - Matthew 5:13, 14
- we are Gods temple - 1 Corinthians 3:16
- we are Gods co-workers - 2 Corinthians 6:1
- We can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.- Philippians 4:13
How do we enter this freedom?
- acknowledge it's true - reflect on God's promises
- come to Christ - give yourself to him
- walk with Christ - keep going
