CROSSROADS - FINISHED!!

We finally received the keys on Friday 8 August. We plan to complete the move into the new building by the end of August.

We offer our thanks to Paintaway, our architect Geoff Naylor and John Morris for all their good work.

We have had many favourable comments and hope you will enjoy all that the new Crosswords has to offer.

Funding

We have reached our target of £150,000. Congratulations to Ray Terry and the fund raising team, and thank you for every gift. Our work together as Christians in Crosby has been very special. We pray this will be just the beginning of all that we do together.

line drawing of CrossroadsGrand Opening

The official opening will be on Saturday 20 September at 11:00 am. There will be a short dedication service, the cutting of the ribbon and free refreshments.

Final Events

The final fund raising events will help us raise money for our planned youth programme, so please continue your support.

Crossroads Hoima

We will be sending £5000 to our sister project in Hoima, Uganda. They have now purchased and fenced the excellent site opposite the hospital in the centre of town. Our gift will enable building work to begin. We will be preparing a special brochure with photos and plans. We hope to keep the link alive between the two Crossroads projects.

Please act now - either put your donation in one of the green envelopes, or send it to Crossroads Project, 71 Liverpool Road, Crosby, L23 5SE. Please let us know if you would like a receipt.

News - 28 January 2003

Building Progress

The floor is now laid and the brickwork will begin on Monday 27 January. The expected completion date is the end of April.

New Company

The new Crossroads Centre will have a new legal and management structure. A new company limited by guarantee and not for profit is being set up. The churches are appointing one new trustee/director each and others will be invited who have special expertise.

Cards and Books

Colin Scotting who ran the Promise Bookshop until it closed at the end of January will set up a special area in Crossroads to sell cards and books. Crossroads will also be able to order any books you may want to buy. This will enable some of the wonderful service offered by the Promise to continue from Crossroads.

News - 21 November 2002

The builders are on site and despite awful weather have made a brave start. I am sure you have seen their containers and fence around the site. They have started to move the oil tank which feeds the Hall heating, stripped the site of topsoil (which we have kept) and uncovered the electricity and water supplies which cross the site, laid a base of hardcore and taken down part of the wall to the by-pass. All is going well. If there is a little disruption to our normal running, please be patient with us, we are trying to keep disruptions down to a minimum. More news soon. John Morris

A Buy-a-Brick campaign, at £1.00 per brick, to raise funds towards the cost of the new Crossroads Centre started on Sunday 3 November 2002. Please support Beryl Hannah who is organizing the campaign.

The fund raising committee will be organizing a Grand Plant Sale in late May/early June 2003, to raise funds for the new Crossroads Centre. Any help with the provision of plants or giving assistance on the stalls, would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Gordon Porter through the Parish Office.

Would you like to give a regular cash donation rather than via a bank. If so, we have sets of six envelopes at the back of church for monthly cash donations - for October, November, December, January, February and March. The building will be completed by the end of March, so we need to raise all the money by then. You can return the envelopes to church in the normal way. Thank you.

News - 20 October 2002

Paintaway Starts Work

Site preparation has begun. On 21 October the construction company Paintaway will begin building work. Little by little we will see the work progress. March 2003 is the planned completion date.

A big thank you to all our supporters

By 11 October we had received £11,000 from our fund raising campaign.

We have had 132 response forms returned.

Please send your gifts as soon as possible. You can do so by completing the donation form. Copies are available in the Crossroads Centre and in the churches of Crosby or you can download a copy in one of the following formats.

A new era for Crosby's Crossroads Centre...

the new CrossroadsCrosby's much-loved Crossroads Centre is to undergo a rebirth, which will see the creation of an exciting new purpose-built centre fit for the 21st Century.

Crossroads has been a familiar and welcoming landmark in Crosby Village for many years ... a visible commitment of local churches and people working together.

But now the centre has reached a 'crossroads' itself. A new building is needed to support the work of Churches Together in Great Crosby, helping to play a key role in the life of the community.

Crossroads announced its plans for its new building on 1 September 2002 and launched an appeal for funds. Details are available on this web site here.

On 2 September 2002 there will be a meeting for prayer and a report on the progress being made on the new building. It will be from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at the Crossroads Centre.
