9 Outdoor events and services

The improvements we have made to the grounds have made them for attractive for holding outdoor events and services. On Maundy Thursday (9 April 2009) there was a dramatic re-enactment of the Easter story.

Roman soldier

A Roman soldier makes people wait before seeing Jesus being tried by Pilate.

The centurion at the Cross explains that this crucifixion was different.

Joseph of Arimathea explained how he took Jesus' body to his own tomb.

Mary Magdalene    Mary Magdalene

Mary Magdalene - excited and in a state of shock that tomb is empty and that she has seen Jesus alive.

On a beautiful Sunday in June 2009 we celebrated Environment Sunday by holding our services outside. At the 11.00 am service we divided into three different groups and stopped at the community garden, the butterfly garden and the perennial wildflower meadow. We had a reading, prayer and reflection at each. When came back into 'church' we discussed how we sensed God had spoken to us through the beautiful surroundings.
