Bishop of Liverpool

This is a story of faith.  One hundred and fifty years ago the people of Crosby built a beautiful Church to the glory of God as a focus of village life.  Since then ten Vicars have dedicated, and may even be said to have laid down, their lives in its service.  Vicars and people have found new ways of worshipping together.  They built schools which have been a great and lasting strength to the Church.  The vitality of the Church is reflected in numerous activities which have ever grown and developed through the years.  Fire devastated the building but only strengthened the resolve of the people that ‘the glory of this latter house shall be greater than the former’, and so it was.  Mission churches have been planted which to this day bear witness to the faith of their founders.  Now, in very different times, St Luke’s still looks out and forward but to other local churches and a much wider community which stretches overseas.  This history challenges and inspires us to play our part in the continuing venture of faith.
