| Homegroup Leaders' Notes for 18 July 2004 | |
| Welcome | Share anything you have experienced that was new and exciting. How did it feel? Now share something that was exciting but then became familiar or dull. Again discuss how you feel about that now. |
| Worship | Read Psalm 104 and then Ephesians 1:1-10. Reflect on the greatness
and the generosity of God. Sing worship songs on these themes eg You are the King of glory, Great is the Lord, Majesty, Such Love, Only By Grace, I'm Accepted. Close by singing or reading Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus. |

Luke 10:38-42 (a) Are you more like Martha or Mary? Discuss what influences the way you act. (b) Talk about some of the things, activities or feelings that cause you to be distracted. When or how does this happen? Are you aware of it? How do you feel? (c) Discuss what you can do about it. Think of practical things that you as a group can do or what you as an individual can do. (d) What might cause you to forget about the greatness of God? What can you do to stay focussed. (e) What might cause you to forget or even doubt the love of God? Reflect on this and maybe break for a time of prayer if appropriate. (f) Share some moments when you have been reminded of God's greatness or goodness. Or maybe things that you have put down to coincidence or good luck! |
| Witness |
(i) Discuss how you can use these thoughts to share your faith with others. (ii) Think how the Alpha course might be relevant. (iii) If a stranger arrived at one of our services would they recognize that Jesus is present? What can we do to emphasize this? |
