| Homegroup Leaders' Notes for 19 December 2004 | |
| Aim | To appreciate more of what God has done in sending Jesus. |
| Welcome | Share something about what you did on one of your favourite birthdays. |
| Worship | Read Mary's song of praise together, and then praise the Lord in your own words for all he has done for you. |
| Word |
Word ( Read Matthew 1:18-25) 1. Messiah means chosen one or anointed King. Why do you think that it was important that was born to such humble parents? 2. The birth of Jesus was a truly cosmic event (Read Colossians 1:19-20.) The heavenly host appeared to the shepherds saying 'Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men on whom his favour rests'. Do you think that we have enough appreciation of what God has done in sending Jesus or we influenced by the tendency of people around us to see him as just a good man? 3. Mary worshiped God saying 'My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour.' Are we too reluctant to express our joy in worship? If so why do you think this is? 4. Read Colossians 1:15-19. What sort of Jesus are you looking forward to meeting? |
| Witness | Pray that you will be able to show by your life that you appreciate the wonder and privilege of knowing Jesus as saviour. |
