| Cell Group Values - Study 1 A All Involved |
|
| Aim | To revisit our cell values using different passages of scripture but reinforcing their importance to our understanding of what it means to be part of The Body of Christ. (Alternatively use the cell outline from chapter 3 of "The Challenge of Cell Church".) |
| Welcome | Share an experience of having left something of value to you behind somewhere. How did you feel about it? |
| Worship | Light a candle with a pleasant aroma. Sit quietly together and think about God's goodness in making us one with him. Read Psalm 133 together and then thank God for making us one with all those who know him as lord. |
| Word | Read Acts 20:22-36 1) Paul is here passing on the baton, as it were, to those he has chosen to continue the work he has begun. Why do you think he emphasises in verse 32 that God's blessings are for all his people and why did he not leave the leadership of the church at Ephesus in the hands of one person? 2) He is the head of the body the church, the source of the body's life (Colossians 1:18). We belong to Christ and to each other. We all have a part to play (Romans 12:3-5). Why is the church so important to Paul (verse 28)? Should we place more importance on the building up of the church than we do? 3) Would you agree that our gifts can sometimes be undervalued, under the surface, unfairly categorized, unclaimed? How can spreading the load within our cell group help us to realise our full potential? 4) Jesus said 'There is more happiness in giving than receiving.' Are we missing out on God's blessing by not seeking to use our gifts for the blessing of others? Paul gave his whole self sacrificially to the task (Acts 20:19). How can we develop our own gifts and learn to be a servant day by day? |
| Witness | Talk for a few minutes about how you might spread responsibility for the running of your group. Pray for the involvement of every Christian in our fellowship. Pray for those who feel involved and have a role, and for those who don't and perhaps wonder where they fit in. Remember that for some people, their major role is in the workplace, and they may have very little time to be involved inside the fellowship. |
