3 Accept and forgive one another
Aim To challenge ourselves by studying what the Bible has to say about how we should love one another in practice. We will do this over several weeks using passages of scripture containing the words one another.
Welcome As you look back over your life since becoming a Christian, what positive changes have you seen in your motives and desires?
Worship Read Psalm 46 together. Praise God for the things he has done for us, praying short prayers. Name some areas of conflict in the World or in our nation or city. After each one, repeat the words of verse 10 "Stop fighting and know that I am God."
Word

(Read Ephesians 4:29-32)

1) Why is it hard to forgive somebody who has done something offensive towards us?

2) Why do we find it hard to accept people who believe something different than we do about the Bible? Do we find people from different cultures or backgrounds difficult to accept and if so why? (Romans 14:1-12)

3) What does the parable of the unforgiving servant teach us about forgiveness? (Matthew 18:21-35)

4) Jesus taught acceptance (Matthew 7:1-5). In what ways do you think we are hypocritical about other people? Could we confess to things we need to change in our lives?

5) Forgiving and accepting one another is difficult and requires hard work and we often forget that in the Lord's Prayer we ask God to forgive us our sins as we forgive those that trespass against us. How can we begin to show our acceptance and forgiveness of others? Do we need to identify in our own minds those whom we struggle with within our church and ask God to give us his love for them?

6) Does being a Christian mean that we will probably have a broader range of friends in age and background than we would otherwise have? How will this help us and our family?

Witness Pray together and ask God to give you a desire to reach out to people who you avoid or do not encourage. Ask God to witness to his saving power through you following his example
