| 4 Submit to one another | |
| Aim | To challenge ourselves by studying what the Bible has to say about how we should love one another in practice. We will do this over several weeks using passages of scripture containing the words one another. |
| Welcome | Share about an occasion when you accused somebody falsely. It may have only been a minor thing such as moving something. Were you able to apologise and did it help? |
| Worship | Ephesians 5:21 'Submit yourselves to one another because of your reverence for Christ.' Pray short prayers beginning with the phrase |
| Word | Read Ephesians 5:21 - 6:9 1) What do you think submission means within a relationship? 2) Why is sometimes good not to give in to oppression? 3) How do we decide when to resist unfairness or injustice? Is there a connection with putting others first? 4) How can our relationships in church be an example to others and how did Jesus demonstrate his putting others first? 5) Which of our favourite things are we reluctant to forego for others? Have you ever had to sacrifice a career or ambition for others? 6) How can we use threats wrongly in our relationships and how can we use our authority with love without losing it? 7) Is there a conflict between being true to oneself and being filled with
the Spirit? |
| Witness | Pray for your relationships at home and work. Confess to God if you have failed to treat people with respect. Ask God to help you to pray for those that you live with, work with, or are acquainted with. |
