| Objections to Christianity 3. Where does evil come from? |
|
| Welcome | Have you ever been scared of the dark? Which places do you find most frightening? |
| Worship | Light a candle. Read John 8:12. Thank God for bringing light into our lives and for changing our darkness into light. Sing a song such as "Light of the World you came down into darkness." |
| Word | Read 1 John 1:5-8 1. God is light and can have no fellowship with darkness. Jesus is the light of the World. Why do you think that we read more about the Satan and demonic activity in the Gospels than in other parts of the Bible? 2. Christians believe that ultimately we can choose to live in the light or live in the darkness but are we completely good or completely bad? What is the difference between freedom in God and freedom from God? 3. In what ways are we more vulnerable to doing wrong if we reject God and do not believe in his Son? (1 John 2:15-17) Do you feel that there is a strong connection between rebellion against God and evil in the World? 4. Do you believe that there is a real presence of evil in the World? If so what are the more subtle ways in which it is manifested? 5. Jesus has defeated the powers of evil on the cross (Colossians 2:15). Why is there still so much evil in the World? |
| Witness | Pray that God will protect you from making wrong choices so that you will be recognisable as people who live in the light. Pray for opportunities to share the good news that Jesus sets us free. |
