| Objections to Christianity 4. The Bible Cannot be Trusted |
|
| Welcome | Tell the test of the group which is your favourite Bible passage/story and why? |
| Worship | It is a good opportunity to allow God to speak to us as he does all the time. Choose some objects (one for each member of the group) from around your house and hand them out. Then ask each member to focus on their object and allow God to speak to them. Say a prayer to this effect. After a period of silence, allow each member to say what it was God was saying to them through their object. Read Psalm 19 together and turn its words into your own prayers of thanks and praise for the ways in which he speaks to us and especially through his word. |
| Word | Read together 2 Timothy 3:10-17 vv 10-13: suffering for the faith vv 14-15: continuing in what you were taught v16: equipped for every good work Conclusion: Ask the group to share their difficulties about the Bible. This might be reading it, understanding it, applying it to their lives etc. The aim is to increase their confidence in it as a foundation for their faith. It may be that group members can help each other with difficulties from their own personal experience. |
| Witness | The next time someone says to you: 'The Bible can't be trusted', how will you respond? As a result of this study, what do you plan to do with the Bible personally? |
