| Objections to Christianity 5. Being good is all that matters! |
|
| Welcome | In your family, who does everyone lean on in hard times? |
| Worship | Read Psalm 47 together. Take turns to praise God for something he is or has done. If you want to, clap after each statement or prayer. Sing a praise song together. |
| Word | Read James 2:14-18 1 Are some people simply good by nature? is it because of their upbringing or circumstances? 2 By what standards do we judge other people and is it easy to be unfair? 3 Jesus said in Mark 10:18 "No one is good except God alone." Does this mean it is not possible for us to be good enough and therefore we should stop trying? 4 How should the fact that we are loved and accepted by Jesus affect the way we live? 5 There is judgement and there is a standard. We should not see it as a bar to be cleared but seek God's power to lift and carry us! Discuss. |
| Witness | Ask God to give you opportunities to discuss people's objections to Christianity. Pray that the good and not so good people you know might understand that being good matters but it is not all that matters. |
