Notes based on 6:30 pm sermon series
3 I am the bread of life

Welcome

What type of bread are you today? Crusty, fresh, a bit stale, hard, soft, easily buttered up, pure and natural, tough, full of holes, etc?

Worship

Read Isaiah 55:1-3

Thank God for his provision for your daily needs, then thank him for sending Jesus to satisfy our spiritual needs. Sing a song about God's love, eg All I once held dear built my life upon, or reflect upon the chorus:

Knowing you Jesus knowing you.
There is no greater thing
You're the first you're the best
You're my joy my righteousness and I love you, love you Lord.

Word

Read John 6:25-59

1. Why do you think Jesus performed his amazing miracles? Why do you think he did not always perform miracles? (Luke 4:25-27)

2. Why are physical things not the most important things in our lives?

3. God gave us Jesus to satisfy our real needs, the deepest needs of humankind. What do you think are our greatest needs?

4. Jesus B becomes our friend. How important is friendship to you?
5. Jesus R relieves our fears. What are the things you fear?
6. Jesus E experiences and understands our doubts. Is it okay to doubt?
7. Jesus A answers our questions. How does he do this?
8. Jesus D deals with our need to belong. What is special about the Christian community?

9. What do we have to do to be satisfied? (John 6:28-29)

Witness

Pray for opportunities to share with others what makes you happy and satisfies you. For example, when people ask us what we do with our time do we mention our faith? Pray that you will not be distracted from the things of God's Spirit by the busyness of our lives.
