| Word | The Lord's Prayer tells us lots about God. When we understand what it means to say "Our Father in Heaven" we will be able to pray more freely and also understand ourselves better in relation to God. 1. Read The Parable of the Lost Son (Luke 15:11-32). This could perhaps be called the parable of the waiting Father. What does this parable teach us the Father's love? Is it possible to be a child of God and lose his love? Are there any degrees of sonship? 2. Read Hebrews 12:3-12. The passage talks about trials being a form of discipline. Even if God himself does not cause suffering is it possible to regard suffering as something God allows to help us to grow to be more like his Son? 3. Roman 8:15-17 tells us we have received the Spirit of Adoption. We are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. We are therefore brothers and sisters of Christ. How does the Holy Spirit confirm this in your life? (share experiences). How does prayer help to build up our confidence as children of God? 4. Do you feel that regarding yourself as being a brother or sister of Christ is presumptuous, or do you see it as a challenge to keep your relationship with him and your fellow sisters and brothers strong? |
| Witness | Pray for those who you know who do not know God as Father. Pray that your relationship with God will bear witness to his love by the way that you welcome others unconditionally. |
