Lord's Prayer |
|
| Welcome | What sort of news items distress you or cause you to comment to other people around you? |
| Worship | Read Psalm 24. Thank God that the world is his. Thank God that he is holy and wants to bring justice to this world. Thank God that he can help us to have clean hands and a pure heart. |
| Word | Read Isaiah 10:1-4. and Isaiah 61 1. The earth is still an unjust and hard place for millions of people with perhaps 100,000,000 people without proper shelter and up to 850,000,000 undernourished. We are bound to feel helpless in the face of such figures but what sort of responses can we make that will make a difference? 2. For the church to pray "Thy Kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven" and do nothing practically to help the poor and badly treated would be insincere. Do you agree? 3. Mother Teresa said that in serving the weak and poor we are privileged to serve God himself. Have we lost sight of God's vision for our lives and been blinded by consumerism? 4. On average each person on earth produces 4.3 tons of carbon per annum. But in the west we average 9 tons whereas the people of Malawi average 0.1 tons. Does this mean that we are greedy and causing injustice, or do we just need to get smarter in how we live? In other words do we need to make any sacrifices in our lifestyles? |
| Witness | Pray for oppressed people and ask God to open up opportunities to help those who are oppressed and exploited. This may be as simple as writing a letter or educating others about the needs of the world. Or changing the values by which you live. |
