Haggai 2.10-19 |
| Welcome |
If you have ever done any DIY or made some furniture, describe
it to the rest of the group and how you felt about doing it? (If you haven’t you can describe someone else’s!) |
| Worship |
Read 2 Chronicles 7.1-6 to gain a picture of worship in the
Temple. Whatever you do for worship this session, try something different so that it isn’t samey. You could try a different
pose, instead of sitting you could bow down, kneel or stand, for example. |
| Word |
Read passage Haggai 2.10-19
| vv 10-13 |
What is the significance of asking questions rather than
giving answers, do you think?
(The answers are to be found in Leviticus 6.27 and Numbers 19.11-16). |
| v 14 |
Isn’t God being a bit harsh on the people re-building
the Temple? |
| vv 15-17 |
More questions…
Why were their crop yields reduced?
Why did they not ‘return’ to God?
Where had they ‘gone’?
What was the evidence that they had ‘left’ God? |
| vv 18-19 |
When did God’s blessing begin?
When God says he willl bless, what does he mean? |
Questions for us:
1. What should be our motivation in re-building the church?
2. What dangers do we need to avoid as a church?
3. How do we consider our ways? How should we reach conclusions?
4. What is the relation between our internal ‘spiritual’ situation and our external ‘physical’ situation?
5. Does God make bad things to happen to us? If he does, why?
6. How important is it that we go to a church every week?
7. What purpose does the church building have for the people of Crosby?
8. What should be our vision for the re-building?
9. What part does patience play in the Christian life?
10. If Jesus is unique, then our worship and witness should reflect that. Discuss. |
| Witness |
The Wildlife activity morning on 21 March and Mother’s
Day on 22 March are good opportunities to invite friends and family. How can you as a group use these opportunities, do you think? |
