St Luke's Junior Church

Junior Church Mission Statement

St Luke's offers a welcome to young and old alike. The 11:00 am service is particularly aimed at families with younger children. We have activity bags available and an area set aside for our little ones for the short time spent in the church service, before we go to the hall for a fun time in Junior Church. Come and join us as we learn together about the Bible.

Jesus said
"Let the children come to
me and do not stop them,
because the kingdom of
heaven belongs to such
as these."

Scramblers
(pre-school)
  Climbers
(5 - 7 years old)
  Explorers
(7 - 10 years old)

After approximately 20 minutes in the church service, Scramblers leave for the hall along with their Parent/Carer. We share a Good News Time where the children can tell us something they have done during the week. We then have a story time. We may play a game, dress-up, act or use props. After the story we have a Craft Time where the children make something or colour a picture linked to the story. Sometimes the work is displayed in the hall. We have a short Prayer Time and sometimes end with singing, which occasionally the Climbers join us for. We usually finish by 12 o'clock.
The Climbers group are brought from the Church Service to the Church Hall by their Parent/Carer. A completed attendance slip (available from the Welcome Table in the Church entrance) is given to a Climbers leader, the Parent/Carer then returns to the Church Service. For approximately the next 30 minutes we have a fun time learning of Jesus. We do this through stories, craft, song, prayer, drama and games. Sometimes we join with the Scrambler group for a short period. At the end of the session the children remain in the hall until their Parent/Carer collects them.
The Explorer group meets together on the first and third Sunday in the month, in the Webster Room of the Church Hall. We spend approximately 30 minutes together learning more about Jesus and how He wants us to live our lives. We do this through Bible stories, drama's, crafts, quizzes, prayer and worship. It is a time for having fun and developing friendships. All Year 3, 4 and 5 children are welcome.
