Parochial Church Council

Report from PCC meeting held on Wednesday 7 June 2006

The PCC had a general discussion on the way it transacts its business and how it communicates with the rest of the church. They agreed that the congregation needed to be kept informed of their work. They agreed to hold a PCC 'day away' later on in the year.

The following elections took place:

Peter Owen (vice-chair)
Linda McDowell (secretary)
Eric Linford (treasurer)
Peter Naylor (standing committee rep.)

The PCC appointed Bill Schaffer as their quinquennial architect.

The PCC were given an update on the Old Crossroads building and agreed to work towards a legal agreement with Mr Paul Murphy who has bought the building and wants to use it for offices.

The PCC agreed to give £250 to Cae Canol, a Christian-run outward bound centre in North Wales, and £500 for Tails in Another Place.

The PCC received reports about the schools, St Luke's Halsall (primary) and St Michael's (secondary). The headteacher of St Michael's has been appointed to another job and so the governors are looking to appoint his replacement as soon as possible.

Gillian Court gave a report on the work of Operation Eden, an environmental organisation set up by the Diocese, who had spoken at the recent Deanery Synod meeting. Steve Matthews agreed to act as a link with them and the PCC agreed that they might offer advice in grounds maintenance and energy efficiency.

The PCC also received reports about the formation of the team ministry and the proposal that each church would form a Shared Ministry Team, and Churches Together in Crosby. It agreed to invite Mgr John Furnival to speak at an evening service.
