Parochial Church Council

What was agreed at the PCC Meeting held on Wednesday 3 October 2007

It was agreed to accept Simon Elliott to be a curate here from the summer of 2008. He is training for ordination at Ridley Hall in Cambridge. He is married to Lisa, a primary school teacher. They are both excited about coming back to Liverpool where they first met and have worked already.

Eric Linford reported that as of 24 September 2007 we had £58,000 in restricted funds (of which £40,000 is for Giving in Grace) and £25,000 in the general purposes fund of which £10,000 is reserves.

It was agreed that we should ask our quinquennial architect to draw up plans to re-roof the vestry area as soon as possible and the main church area after that. Diocesan advice had been that this should be done before any re-ordering within. Projected costs could be in the order of £150,000 and a loan might be required.

It was also agreed to investigate further the investment funds that we have (about £45,000) to see if we can use them for this purpose.

A response was agreed to A Way Forward, a paper from the deanery about the future of St Michael's, All Saints and St Luke's.

It was also agreed to select the following members of the Shared Ministry Team:

  • Barbara Chambers (non-cell pastor)
  • Eric Deninson (youth)
  • Ali Dobson (children)
  • Agnes Law (welcome)
  • Jan Matthews (worship)
  • Steve Matthews (cell pastor)
  • Shirley Wallin (administration)

(Please pray for them as they start to meet together and work together)

The pattern of Christmas services was agreed with there being a joint service of Holy Communion at 10.30 am on 30 December (but without lunch afterwards).
