Parochial Church Council

Report of PCC meeting held on Wednesday 29 November 2007

The minutes of the previous meeting held on 3 October 2007 were accepted as a correct record. (They can be viewed in the yellow folder at the back of church or see Linda McDowell.)

It was agreed that Les Railton should join the Standing Committee as a PCC representative and that Ray Terry should continue to serve as our representative on the Council for Churches Together in Great Crosby for a further term of 3 years.

The budget for 2008 was agreed and it was noted that an increase of £267 a week would be required just to fulfil existing commitments. It was agreed to have our annual review of giving on Sunday 3 February 2008.

The plans for a new vestry roof were approved unanimously and permission from the Diocese will now be sought.

It was agreed to buy a house for the new curate (Simon Elliott). The deposit would come from our general funds and endowment funds. It was agreed that the mortgage or loan would come from the Giving in Grace funds as Simon will enable us to fulfil our GIG objectives. Ann Somers, Linda McDowell, Joyce Fell, Linda Moore and Eric Linford agreed to take on responsibilities for buying the house on behalf of the PCC.

Reports were received from Sefton Deanery Synod, St Luke’s Halsall, Breathing Places and World Mission Group.

A review of PCC objectives from 2007 and for 2008 was started and will be finalised at January meeting.
