Parochial Church Council

Report of PCC meeting held on Wednesday 28 January 2009

Jane Leadbetter, Diocesan Children’s officer, presented the Child Friendly Church award and answered questions.

It was agreed to make as an objective for 2009 work towards the Church School award with St Luke’s Halsall.

Pete updated the PCC on the dispute with Optisavers and reported that their solicitors are due to meet with the churches this week.

It was agreed to have a ‘day away’ with the Shared Ministry Team at St. Luke’s Formby on Saturday September 12th from 10-4pm. The theme would be developing our vision for the next 5 years.

Eric Linford reported on our financial situation. This showed that whilst our Giving in Grace fund, our vestry repair fund and churchyard fund will probably be able to cover the re-building of the vestry, our general fund is less than he would like. The number of regular givers has declined over the past 2 years. PCC charges for 2009 were agreed.

The PCC agreed to sign a contract with Paintaway to repair the vestry having received a report from the building committee.

The PCC congratulated Simon Elliott, Barbara Chambers, Adrian d’Auvin and Dave Roberts for putting together the community reflection.

The PCC discussed an analysis of church attendances for St Luke’s over the past few years.

The PCC affirmed the strategy for the Gift Day to be held in May.
