Parochial Church Council

Report of PCC meeting held on Wednesday 25 November 2009

Andrew Tate was elected as PCC secretary.

The PCC considered the latest developments in their negotiations with Optisavers over their right of way and agreed their response.

The PCC supported the plans for Lent 2010 when the whole church will be invited to attend a Mission Shaped Intro course in the church hall.

Beryl Hannah was appointed as a new representative to the Council of Churches Together in Great Crosby.

The PCC agreed to engage with the other Anglican churches in the area (southern cluster) in discussing issues of 'sustainability' so that the Deanery mission plan might be more realistic.

The PCC accepted a financial report from the Treasurer, and agreed charges for 2010 for the hall, Crosby room, weddings and funerals etc.

The PCC received a report from the World Mission group and accepted their recommendations for our final charitable giving for the year.

The PCC agreed an environmental policy.

Paul Beardwood, buildings' co-ordinator, made a presentation on what has been achieved in 2009 and how a re-ordering of the church might look in the future. It was agreed that a group should be formed to enable extensive consultation within church and the community on this (Barbara Chambers, Vera de Villiers, Ann Somers, Simon Elliott, Lester Davey).

The PCC reviewed their objectives for 2009 and were very pleased with the progress that had been made. They set themselves objectives for 2010:

  • consultation on re-ordering,
  • establishing a Fresh Expression,
  • attracting more families,
  • developing greater links with the community, and
  • ensuring PCC representation from the under 30s of our church.
