Book your tickets to Story and pictures by Graham Hignett A lively and theatrical Christian production involving song, dance, drama and mime, is to be presented by St Luke's Church in Crosby. Called Here and Now, it's a locally produced version of the successful touring musical of the same name which has wowed audiences all over the country. It is also the follow-on from Hopes and Dreams which the church performed to sell-out audiences at Crosby Civic Theatre three years ago. Here and Now was written by Rob Frost, a Christian speaker of international renown, with music by Paul Field. Their professional touring company visited the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall last autumn, when members of St Luke's choir and churches from all over the region participated.
Now some 100 adults and children from St Luke's and other local churches have come together to stage Here and Now, a musical and sketch show with a thought-provoking theme. It is based on Jesus' teaching in the Sermon on the Mount and applies it to life today. The production concludes with a dramatic presentation of the Beatitudes. Event Co-ordinator Eric Linford said: "It is a wonderful and entertaining piece of theatre which looks at God's values and shows they are just as relevant in the Crosby of today here and now. That's why it's called Here and Now. "Rehearsals are well underway and we have asked churches in the area to support the musical. Here and Now is also intended to be an outreach event, which means we hope that people who perhaps don't normally go to church would consider coming to see the show." Here and Now takes place on 15 and 16 April 2003, performed 'theatre in the round' at Merchant Taylors' School for Girls, Crosby, starting at 7:30 pm. Tickets are £3 available from St Luke's Parish Office, or box office manager Mrs Jane Murrow on 0151 924 5142 (daytime), or 0151 476 9189 (evenings/weekends). Proceeds from the show will go to Crosby's new Crossroads ecumenical centre, which is currently being built. Photographs copyright © Graham Hignett and used with permission |
