appointment of priest-in-charge

The appointment of the Revd Peter Hendry Spiers, BA, CertTh, as priest-in-charge of St Luke's Great Crosby, and as team rector designate of the proposed Blundellsands and Crosby team ministry was announced today, 28 November 2004.

Peter (aged 43) was educated at Liverpool College, St John's College Durham and Ridley Hall Theological College. He was curate of St Luke's West Derby from 1986 to 1989 and team vicar of St Peter's Everton from 1989 to 1995. He has been vicar of St George's Everton since 1995. He has been a member of General Synod since 2000, and is the chair of the Liverpool diocesan House of Clergy.

Peter is married to Annie, and they have four children, Hannah (13), Callum (12), Lily (9) and Dylan (7).

Peter's licensing as priest-in-charge will take place in St Luke's church on the evening of 24 April 2005.
