Paintings and reflections by
Richard Popplewell and John Turner
The twelve paintings in this exhibition, and accompanying reflections, have been selected to invite us to search for the light at this dark, but hopeful, season of the year.
‘the people in darkness have seen a great light’
If you would like to walk through the Advent Art Adventure online – then we have brought you this video below.
‘During my time living in the L’Arche community I found art a wonderful medium of communication and personal growth. After a period of time as an art student ( in my 60s!!) I began to see it as an expression of spiritual identity and exploration both individually and communally. I want to encourage you to experience this too.’
‘I have recently discovered painting after years of longing to dabble in visual art. Mostly self-taught, I am interested in the interaction, relationship and response of people who ‘look at and see’ the images themselves. I particularly like painting water, seascapes and sky. There is still a long way to journey, and being a novice gives me an excuse to try new techniques and approaches’.
