The Church Hall
The Nifty Knitters as we have affectionately become known was formed in 2006. We started out by knitting small articles (hats scarves mitts etc) to go in the Christmas Shoeboxes for the Samaritan Purse Charity. Over the years we have managed to make thousands of articles for this purpose. We have also been able to raise some funds through our knitting and crocheting each year and for the last three years managed to send along over £1000 annually.
We now have on average about 20 people who attend each week. About two thirds don’t attend church but do enjoy taking and reading our church news sheet each week. There is also lots of chatter and refreshments. We also have people who cannot attend on a Friday who make items for the shoe boxes. A strong link has been formed with the May Logan Centre knitting group from Bootle who send knitted items along for us to distribute.
Items for the shoeboxes (toiletries, buy propecia in australia small toys, crayons and pencils etc are collected during the year and we are happy to accept items either delivered to the office or knitting on Friday afternoons. We are always ready to support where we can and have had a number of knitted projects undertaken this year. Hats for Seafarers, Easter Novelties, Hats and cardigans for Malawi, Fish and Chip baby jumpers and some baby coats, Hats and teddies for Children in Distress. Hats for Innocent Yoghurts to help Age Concern
Each year we join with the Crafty Ladies for an after New Year party which is always greatly enjoyed by all who attend. We are always willing to take and pass on knitting needles and other sewing items to various charities. Spare knitting wool is always greatly appreciated. We would like to take this opportunity of thanking anyone who has joined in with the many projects we have undertaken your support and generosity as always has been outstanding.
